What’s your experience?

I first got into the beauty world in 2018, as a freelance makeup artist. Working solely with professional equestrians, during competitions and photoshoots. I started working in the salon setting doing hair in 2021. I have been blessed to have learned from many talented stylists, in the salon and assisting them on hair photoshoots.

What’s your specialty?

I specialize in cutting hair, some of my favorite cuts are dry cuts and razor work! I will always have special place in my heart for wavy and curly cuts as well!

Why do you love what you do?

I have found by my own experience and while working behind the chair, just how much our hair can affect how we feel about ourselves. I love being able to make someone feel beautiful, I believe that is something we all deserve to feel! I also enjoy getting to meet new people, and continue to see people in my chair that I have seen before!

How do you express yourself?

I love expressing myself through my makeup.

How do you get out of a creative rut?

I try to let myself know it is ok to take a break sometimes and then go back to whatever project I am working on at that time. I usually turn on music that inspires me, and go for a walk. I also go back home to see the beautiful nature and see my family!

Where do you go in the Twin Cities to be inspired?

I love going to Alma Cafe in the mornings.

Most noteworthy era?

I would say the 90s would be a good era, a number of things from the 90s seem to be coming back into style which I find very cool!

What do you do for self-care?

I love having a clean space, so I will definitely start off by cleaning my home! I try to get back to see my family as often as I can, I love being outside and hearing the birds chirping, or smelling the freshly cut hay (even though I'm terribly allergic)!

Piece of advice for those struggling with self-confidence?

I think confidence is something that every person has struggled with at one point or another including myself. Once I realized everyone has something they aren't confident about, it helped me not feel alone. I make a point to focus on the things that I like about myself. When it comes to things I wish I could change, I try my hardest to be grateful that I have a body and mind that lets me do so many incredible things!

Must-have product at Gem?
